Pros of Being a Chef

You have a genuine love of food. The kitchen is your favorite place to be. Your biggest pleasure comes from feeding people you love and seeing their enjoyment while eating. Perhaps you even have some emotional attachments to the position of chef because someone you loved dearly as a child was always in the kitchen, sweating over the hot stove to make your favorite meals.

There could be a million reasons that you are leaning toward becoming a professional chef, but you have to weigh the pros and cons before you make a solid decision.

Pros of Being a Chef

A professional kitchen is a busy place and the most successful chefs will feed off of the adrenaline that comes with the fast paced environment. A busy kitchen always has a million things going on at once and the demand of getting all the food prepped in time for service and then served on time for customer satisfaction is intense. To a great chef, this is exciting!

Just knowing that you are serving people who really appreciate your food is very satisfying as well. At the end of the night there is a sense of accomplishment. You have successfully fed potentially hundreds of hungry people and allowed them to enjoy a night away from home.

When you go home, you get the same satisfaction from feeding your own family and friends really good food. You know all about how to create great meals that your family loves, and that includes the picky eaters in the family.

Much of the things chefs love surrounds the ability to nourish and nurture others. The hard work and sweat is worth it at the end of the meal if they brought enjoyment and happiness to others eating the food. Some may also be intrigued by the presentation of great food on the plate, but the element of serving others almost always comes into the picture.
