Cons of Being a Manager

Here are some disadvantages of being a manager:

Lone Wolf: As the boss, you will be at the top, and most other employees will not want much to do with you, save for other managers. You will be distrusted, and often times you will be viewed as the 'bad guy'. You worked hard to get here, but sometimes you'll wish you could go back to the beginning. You may even find that you lose friends when you become the manager, and this is necessary, as you need to be removed from the main group in order to make tough decisions.

Monitoring: As the manager you will always be watched. Upper management, and even other employees will be waiting for you to slip up. People want your job, and you will need to keep it protected.

Stress: The management jobs come with a fair amount of stress. There are some who will not be able to handle it, but if you find that you can, then you will without a doubt find yourself in a great career! (it's actually not a bad idea to mention you can work well under stress in your manager resume).

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many things that you will need to know about management, and as you work your way up the corporate ladder you will no doubt discover these things. The most important thing is to remember who you are in the midst of a chaos that never seems to end.
