How to Write an Investment Banking Resume

Investment banking can be a very fast paced job, and the locations are even faster paced. Believe it or not, the majority of banking jobs are located in New York City, and even if you want to work in another location you will probably find yourself making frequent trips to the city. When you create your resume, there are a number of things that you need to include, and when you are creating an investment banking resume, it can get rather complicated.

The first thing that you need to include is your previous work experience. Now you need to take note that this part of your resume might very well be the longest. When you are listing your previous jobs, you will need to list any accomplishments that you achieved in these jobs. You will need to be very specific, otherwise it might appear as if you are being a bit deceptive and that is the last thing you want on your job resume.

Your education is an equally important part of your resume. You need to list all of the places you studied at, whether you were going for a degree or not. When you list the previous schools you attended, make sure you give detailed information such as your areas of study and the specific locations of these schools. This is very important, so make sure it is all included. Often times your potential employer might call the schools to see if you did indeed attend and/or graduate from them.

As you can see, writing an investment banker resume is going to be much more complicated than any other resume you have written in the past. Note that it is very possible for your resume to exceed one page, but by no means should it be more than two. This does not count the cover page of course, which will need to tell the employer who you are, what you are capable of, and what you can bring to the company.

There are many other things that you will need to include in your investment banking finance resume writing such as your special skill areas, the software you are most familiar with, etc. Remember that you don't have to be one hundred percent familiar with any piece of software to list it on your resume. You can spend a few hours learning something and then list it. Just make sure you follow through and learn more as soon as possible.

So here you have a few things that you will need to know in order to create an effective investment banking resume. The most important thing that you can do when creating this resume is to make it stand out. There are plenty of other hopeful candidates wanting a job in this field, so make sure that you truly want it, and make sure it shows when you are submitting your resume or even interviewing for the job of your dreams.
