An introduction to KSA's

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities are narrative statements that accompany Federal resumes when applying to Federal job openings. An important factor in the hiring process, they are used to determine who are the best applicants, when several candidates qualifiy for the job.

  • Knowledge: an organized body of information usually of a factual or procedural nature which, if applied, makes adequate performance on the job possible.
  • Skills: the mental, manual or verbal manipulation of data, things or people.
  • Abilities: the ability to perform a mental or physical activity at the present time.

Because preparing KSA's yourself might be tricky if you're not a good writer and are not aware of the latest Federal hiring trends, we recommend using a professional KSA writing service to make sure you get great documents and a high score.

With so many candidates having similar resumes and career profiles, it should also be emphasized that KSA's are now so important that they are often used to select candidates for interviews and, in some cases are even essential when it comes to make a hiring decision.
