Cons of Receptionist Jobs

The biggest challenge most receptionists face is being able to greet walk-in visitors in addition to answering the telephone. It can be quite a juggle sometimes but everything usually works itself out. Walk-in customers or visitors are generally very polite if you have a phone call to pick up. If you don't have really great multi-tasking skills being a receptionist is probably not the best position for you.
It's also important for receptionists to keep a smiling face at all times and to leave any home or personal business away from work. Everybody should be doing this anyway but it can be tough at times but if you're a receptionist you create the customer's first impression of a company so it's important to smile and greet visitors.

Whether you have prior administrative experience or you're a stay at home mom looking to get back into the workforce a receptionist position can give you the jump start you need. The money is decent and many companies will also offer benefits if you need them for you or your family members. If you're looking for a receptionist job you'll want to make sure you have a receptionist resume even if you don't have prior experience because you can still list any skills and other experiences you do have.
