Nursing Resume Writing Don'ts

The don'ts should be fairly obvious. Do not include anything on your nursing resume that doesn't pertain to the job you're applying for. For example, if you worked as a waitress to get you through nursing school, listing the restaurant you worked at during your schooling won't help you one bit. In fact, it may hurt your chances when your resume is stacked against someone's who has more or better experience.

Another don't is that if you have a lot of work history, but there's a large chunk of time missing between some of your jobs, don't highlight this. In fact, don't even put dates if you think it will harm your chances. Don't adhere to the one page rule that most people think is an actual rule. This is a myth. If you have a lot of experience and you want to list every bit of it, go ahead. Finally, don't include references but instead tell the employer you can provide them if it's required.

If you follow these dos and don'ts, you'll be able to create a powerful nursing resume that will get you noticed amongst so many other applicants and you're sure to get employment you've set your sights on.
