3/07-9/07 Early Strides. Behavior Specialist/ Direct Service Provider. As a Behavior Specialist I worked with children that suffer from Autism. I provide structured activities to assist with socialization skills and help with transitioning from one activity to another in a school setting. I also provided home care assistance. I provided daily analysis and assist with monthly goals.
12/05-2/07 Rosemary Children’s Services. Case Manager. As a case manager for at risk youth, my duties consisted of completing DMH documentation, writing quarterly and monthly reports, assessing new residents to develop plans towards their goals. I also registered clients in school, assisted with obtaining employment, finding suitable transitional housing, obtaining identification and social security cards, etc. I also assisted in situational crisis intervention and provided transportation as needed.
8/05-12/05 Rosemary Children’s Services. Child Care Counselor. As a counselor
I provided counseling to at risk youth between the ages of 12-17 who are either on
Probation or are Wards of the court, or have come from the foster care
system. It is a level 12 facility, which houses girls that have severe
emotional disorders, as well as behavioral problems. I facilitated daily
group meetings centered on behavior modification, provided weekly
behavioral analysis of residents, for treatment planning, provided
weekly goals to work on, as well as teach several Day
Rehabilitation/Treatment courses. I provided a home like setting for the
girls, by initiating responsibilities and life skills such as doing chores,
cooking dinner, doing laundry, etc. I also took them on recreational outings
to cultural as well as academically based outings. My duties also consisted
of data entry, filing, answering telephones and general office tasks.
9/00- 10/04 California State University Long Beach. Financial Aid Peer
As a peer counselor I presented financial aid information to students,
answered questions, and informed students of the cost of attendance to the
university, miscellaneous fees and also budgeting information. I processed
student loans, answered high volume phone calls as well as data entry. I
also informed students of document deadlines, and the completion process for
the FAFSA, which is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
1/02-5/04 Volunteers of America Upward Bound. Tutor.
In this position I tutored college bound students from the ages of 12 to 18
in the subjects of English, Composition, History, and Government. I
conducted assessment test to ensure that potential participants were
suitable for the program. I also assisted in their transition from high
school to college and took them on educational based outings.
11/03-1/04 Volunteers of America Work Furlough.
In this position I monitored approximately 50 men from the ages of 20-78,
who had been released from state prison. My duties consisted of hourly room
checks, periodic room searches, body searches, serving 3 meals a day, and
general office tasks.
