Modus Media International is the global supply chain management leader in technology-related commerce. We are looking for a customer-focused, results-oriented person to join our RTP-based team. The Buyer/Planner will receive requisitions and/or request for purchase from customer service/Engineering and enter into the MRP II system. Record and communicate special instructions to Planning and Manufacturing. High level of communication with vendors. Responsible for assuring that stock levels are maintained at the lowest possible level while achieving the contract specific and agreed service requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Negotiate long term contracts with vendors for total cost reduction. * Develop long-term supply strategy to reduce the total number of vendors. * Monitor and enhance supplier performance through effective use of supplier scorecards. * Implement and achieve cost saving strategies in line with purchasing department goals. * Understand, interpret, and analyze requisitions or request for orders and engineering changes. * Entering and updating of purchase system. * Determine impact of changes to the division and the customer and vendor. * Follow department procedures. * Creates forecast for customers based on input from the customer and history. * Maintain the master schedule in the MRP system. * Establish the production planning together with the customer service teams. * Verify data accuracy (parts numbers, BOMs, Part Costs) in MRP: report problems to Customer Service Reps and Procurement. * Ensures Procurement: generate correct and timely purchase orders to meet demand. * Attend production planning meetings. * MRP analysis. * Monitor capacity constraints; be able to provide back-up solutions when there is minimal capacity available. * Monitor all Customer Engineering Revisions and assess any excess inventory danger/liability. * Follow work instructions - MS POSITION QUALIFICATIONS * Effective verbal and written communication skills. * Intermediate, to highly skilled with the use of MS Word, MS Excel or MS Access. * Demonstrate planning, analytical, organizational and project management skills. * Customer service skills a plus (for customer contact). * Knowledge of divisional capabilities. * Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management. * Proven cost reduction track record. * CPM or BA/BS in Business preferred. * APICS Certified, preferred.
