The Pros of Teaching Overseas

Taking a teaching job overseas can definitely be a rewarding experience, as you will have the chance to involve yourself in an entirely new culture, while making a fair amount of money. This is an experience that cannot only help you reach your personal career goals, but can also help you to grow as a person. Not only this will look good on your teaching resume but you definitely will remember these experiences for the rest of your life and this will be something that you will likely look back on fondly. With that being said, you will likely run into some trying times during your travels, which will cause you to question your decision to work in another country. In the end, everyone's overall experience is different, so make sure that you are prepared for the unexpected if you take one of these challenging positions.

The main reason why so many people choose to teach English overseas is because of the money. Many of these countries, especially Asian countries, pay foreign teachers an extremely competitive salary and will often pay for an apartment for the teacher as well. This salary is usually enough to support the teacher financially and allow extra funds for traveling in time off.

The second reason why so many people choose to take these jobs is because of the cultural experience. When you live in a foreign country, you will see aspects of that country that most tourists will never get to experience. This can be extremely rewarding, but can also be an eye-opening experience for the teacher. Being able to live in someone else's world for a short period of time is truly something that you will never forget and is one of the things that most teachers talk about when they return home.
