Job Description: TOWN OF CLINTON TOWN CLERK/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT The Town of Clinton is seeking to fill the permanent full-time position of Town Clerk/Administrative Assistant. This is responsible administrative and fiscal work supporting the Town Manager and Treasurer’s office as well as serving as municipal Town Clerk. Overview: This position is responsible for coordination of elections and voter registration in accordance with applicable laws and regulations of the State of Maine. Work involves assisting with collection and recording of payments and fees as they relate to the office of the Town Clerk; the issuance of various licenses, certificates, permits, and maintains and information system for the Town’s official records. The employee will also perform full-service accounting tasks and payroll processing for the Treasurer’s Office using Trio Municipal software. Requirements: This position requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills; organizational skills with attention to detail; accounting experience and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters of Town business. Must have a Maine Driver’s License. Education and Experience: An Associate or Bachelor Degree is desirable but three to five years’ experience in a responsible position with strong accounting duties is acceptable. Candidate should have a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; HR/Payroll principles, municipal budgeting and the ability to handle cash. Previous experience in a municipal office is preferred but not required. Benefits: Salary dependent upon experience. Employer paid Health Insurance and Income Protection. Standard time benefits.
