Teacher Job Search Tips

Having trouble finding a teacher job? Here are a few tips to help you:

  • Apply to private and public schools. Even though a private school might sound better, you should apply to public schools as well, as there is a shortage of positions and a lot of competition for private school positions.
  • Be willing to relocate. While you might prefer to stay in your town, county or state, if you can be flexible, do not hesitate to move if it guarantees you getting a job. Plus with some experience, you can still move back at a later time.
  • Do not limit yourself to your dream job. It can certainly be frustrating to take a lesser job or transfer to a field that isn't your specialty, but if you are struggling to find something, just do it - it pays the bills, will provide some experience and you can go back to looking for your dream job once the market opens.
  • Finally take the time to write a great teacher resume to make sure that you get interviews for the positions you like.
