The role of a resume objective was originally to state the kind of job you are looking for. However, in the past few years, its role changed, as the employment market became more competitive.
Nowadays, your objective should emphasizes what you will bring to the company rather than what you are looking for - employers care about what they need, not what your dream job is.
Here is an example.
Instead of saying something like "Looking for a challenging position that will allow me to grow and uses my sales skills and education."
Say something like "Highly experienced sales professional looking into increasing Sales revenues by 50% to bring company revenues to the next level".
As you can see, this new objective is more result-oriented and clearly states what you want to do for the company. This also means that you should customize your resume objective writing to each position you are applying to so that the employer feels you are already part of the team.
