There are two main formats when it comes to writing a - civilian - resume: Chronological and Functional. What you might need depend on your industry and career level. With a chronological format you list your experience and education in a chronological order, starting with the most recent, while with the functional format you focus on duties and accomplishments related to the job you are applying to. In addition, there is a combination format, which blends both chronological and functional formats together; you should however be careful if thinking about using this, as it might confuse employers.
