First-timers applying to government jobs always get surprised when they see how particular is the Federal application process and, most particularly, when they learn that they can't use their resume for government positions. Once we tell them they need a Federal resume, they ask us what are the differences with their resume. Well not only government resumes are much more detailed, but they require specific information. You want one example? Well, you need to include your social security number in a Federal resume! While you might think that all these requirements are kind of annoying, don't ever think about not complying. If you don't give the government exactly the data they want, your resume will get tossed and you will never get a chance to be interviewed, even if you are the best candidate!
