Clinical Reviewer, MI Trauma Quality Improvement- RN (1073) Facility: St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Location: Pontiac, MI
Details: Bachelor's Degree Accountability Objectives: The Clinical Reviewer is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting clinical data elements for MTQIP eligible cases as required for participation in the Michigan Trauma Quality Improvement Program (MTQIP), a Blue Cross Blue Shield/Blue Care Network of Michigan- funded Collaborative Quality Initiative (CQI). The Clinical Reviewer will work collaboratively with the trauma program registry staff, clinical staff, and the trauma program manager to abstract and submit reliable data in a timely manner. This positon will interact within the continuum of care to support insure quality data collection, abstraction and entry. RN will analyze data to support trauma outcomes as outlined by the MTQIP initiative, utilizing information to identify Quality Improvement opportunities. This position will work with the Trauma staff, Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to create and implement a course of action to improve trauma outcomes . Position Qualifications: Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required. Education: Bachelor's Degree - Nursing Licensure / Certification: Current and valid nursing license to practice in the State of Michigan TNCC certification preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience: Two to five years or more years experience working in a health care environment working with medical records, electronic medical record, or performance improvement. Prior Trauma experience preferred. Special Skill / Aptitudes: Knowledge of data extraction from the medical record and the use of technology data collection applications. Demonstrates initiative and motivation as well as the ability to work independently. Must possess understanding of computers and software (spreadsheet and database), such as Excel and Microsoft for Windows. Excellent assessment and analytic skills necessary for data collection, problem solving, data analysis, statistical analysis, and research methodology. Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with various levels of personnel. Understand the formal and informal structure of the hospital, outside customers and groups and operate proficiently in all. Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups. Duties / Responsibilities: 1 Assesses, monitors and evaluates patient responses to outcomes through concurrent and/or retrospective chart review. 2 Accurately completes all data collection in a timely manner in adherence to specific time frames. 3 Participates in the ongoing design of data collection tools utilizing appropriate methodologies. 4 Communicates pertinent information related to the auditing process and documentation requirements/trends to the appropriate Department/Unit Managers, so department/unit staff can improve on the completion of necessary data requirements. 5 Works in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other department leaders to continuously improve care delivered to patients as documented by evidence-based outcome measures. 6 Uses computer technology to keep accurate records to support the data collection and reporting process. 7 Supports the appropriate service lines in the development and evaluation of the Performance Improvement Annual Plans and other quality improvement efforts as needed. 8 Provides technical assistance to appropriate service lines performing quality activities including, but not limited to: A. Participating in development and design of improvement activities and standards. B. Participating in design of data collection tools and procedures, including planning, measuring and assessing the effect of improvement activities. C. Analyzing, collection and tabulation to design data driven Performance Improvement action plan. D. Displaying data in a meaningful and useful format. E.
