Job Title: Inorganic Laboratory Manager

Position Functions: manage the day-to-day activities of the inorganic environmental laboratory operation including the Metals Extractions, TCLP, IC/anions, ICP and ICP/MS  departments. Coordinate and assign work tasks and monitor analysts' and technicians' workflow. Trouble shoot equipment. Review and validate data, and complete reports. Coordinate and communicate with department staff and other department team leaders on project status and problem resolution. Work in tandem with department team leaders and Project Management to ensure that committed turn around times are met and the final report meets or exceeds the clients' expectation. Work with the Laboratory Director and lab management team to establish weekly forecast. Provide recommendations for the capital equipment budget. Investigate process and technical improvement opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs and improve efficiency. Ensure that the company quality management and QA program is implemented and complied with within the department. Responsible for developing audit responses and implementing corrective action plans. Monitor the department on a daily basis for adherence to health and safety practices, and facilitate corrective actions as needed. Participate in the writing and review of standard operating procedures. Develop individual mentoring programs for department staff including technical training, professional development, goals and objectives, and performance evaluations; and provide input into staff hiring and termination decisions. 

Qualifications: demonstrated strong management, leadership and team building skills and two to four years of inorganic laboratory supervisory experience in a dynamic work environment. Excellent communication and time management skills. Strong sense of urgency. Three to five years experience with ICP and ICP/MS, as well as a thorough knowledge of inorganic methods, including QA/QC criteria-based EPA methodologies, and instrument troubleshooting skills. Previous LIMS experience and proficient computer skills are a must. BS degree in chemistry is preferred; a BS degree in a physical or biological science may be accepted under certain conditions and five years of environmental laboratory experience.
