This person will answer directly to the City Administrator and have responsibility for development and implementation of community development plans, programs and services.

Qualified individuals should have a degree in land-use planning, urban planning, public administration or a closely related field and 5 years experience in community development with 2 years of supervisory responsibility or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants should have a thorough knowledge of zoning laws and comprehensive plans including their formation, process of adoption and enforcement; extensive knowledge of planning programs and processes; working knowledge of personal computer and GIS applications; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with architects, contractors, developers, owners, supervisors, employees, the general public, and the Board of Directors; ability to establish effective working relationships with customers, co-workers, and regulatory agencies. Applicants should have the ability to resolve complex and sensitive customer service issues; prepare and analyze comprehensive and technical reports and data; and the ability to work safely without presenting a direct threat to incumbent or others. Other duties may include issues surrounding Parks and Recreation, Library, and Cemetery. Applicants must also possess a valid Arkansas state driver's license or have the ability to obtain one.
