Position Under the direction of the Deputy Executive Director of Operations the Public Safety Coordinator coordinates and manages training initiatives on behalf of the Florida Sheriffs Association.
The job function requires the Public Safety Coordinator to maintain working relationships with Sheriffs and Sheriffs command staff. The position requires strong leadership management and verbal communication skills. Important and essential job functions of the position require professional bearing and attitude which includes the following interacting positively and cooperating with sheriffs offices working as a team member with various outside agencies and functioning under intense time pressure.
Essential Functions: Coordinates training for sheriffs deputies by meeting with law enforcement agencies. Determines course objectives content and prepare lesson plans. Formulates training schedules determines instructors and identifies training site venues for FSA training. Develops sound working relationships with sheriffs and their staffs registering and attending FSA sponsored training. Provides technical assistance regarding training to sheriffs and their staff. Evaluates and adjusts curricula as needed to ensure effective delivery of training classes. Coordinates facilitates and delivers risk management training in partnership with the Florida Sheriffs Risk Management Fund. Represents FSA at law enforcement meetings and serves as a liaison with law enforcement organizations as directed. Serves as a FSA representative in the State Emergency Operations Center during disaster preparedness and response. Serves as a facilitator and moderator for FSA specialized training initiatives to include the Commanders Academy and Sheriffs annual conferences. Serves as the FSA staff liaison to the Sheriffs Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program CAAP committee and the National Public Safety Broadband Network FirstNet program. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Professional Certification or License.
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university. Florida Law Enforcement Officer Certification. Valid Florida drivers license. Professional Experience. Minimum of five years of experience with hands-on project coordination. Command level law enforcement experience preferred. Demonstrates proficiency in law enforcement training. Knowledge Skills and Abilities. Knowledge of Sheriffs offices policy and procedures. Computer software Specifically Microsoft Office Suite software power point excel and word document. Federal and state laws. Current events, Communication equipment, Law enforcement issues, Mental health and substance abuse issues, Judicial process, Adult training concepts Planning and budgeting. Ability to Communicate effectively. Collaborate with numerous stakeholders. Manage time effectively. Compose and conduct speeches at training events. Operate motor vehicle. Skills Interpersonal Computer Complex problem solving. Basic English grammar. Research, Public speaking, Presentation, Management, Organizational, Decision-making, Analytical Scheduling.
