On the Job: Work from Home Testing Video Games

There are many different ways to work from home, and of those jobs some can be enjoyable, fun careers that you might not think are possible. One such example is the opportunity to work from home testing video games. These jobs are hard to find, and you have to have a little more qualification than just liking video games, but you can find them if you know where to look. Although rare, you can find these jobs on sites like Craigslist, as well as other telecommuting job sites. Most testing positions require on-site work of some type, so they’re less popular in the work at home field than other gigs might be. However, you can still find a few companies that are looking for people to work from home testing video games, here and there.

Testing video games requires a great knowledge of video games, programming, and how gaming truly works, so that you can best understand and operate the game, making sure that you check all of the different obstacles and areas of the interactive play. You can’t just like video games and become a game tester. You need to understand how to play games, things to look for, and ways to improve the games and make them work better.

I’m certainly not trying to discourage anyone from finding a job where they can work from home testing video games. I am, however, trying to let people know that they do need to have experience and the ability to find jobs properly before they can even get started with their work from home search. Finding a job, even a job as fun and interesting as video game testing, isn’t something to be taken lightly, and you need to make sure that you’re prepared before you dive in to something new.
