Medical Billing Work at Home Job: Find the Job of Your Dreams

Medical billing professionals are an elite group. The job can't be done by just anyone; you need special training and knowledge of medical coding and accouting practices. You also need to understand health insurance policies and procedures to succeed in medical billing. Here is a list of what NOT to expect with a medical billing work at home job:

  • easy work
  • making tons of money doing nothing
  • no experience required
  • freedom to work whenever you want, or as little as you want
  • anything simple, fast, free, easy, or otherwise NOT work

A job is a job. And work should be work. The internet hasn't changed medical billing OR the way that the job is done, it has just made it more accessible so that people can find a medical billing work at home job if they desire to do so. You still need the training, the experience, and the knowledge to succeed at medical billing.

So now that you know the scoop on medical billing work at home job, you can decide whether it's a position that you really want to pursue. Often, people that work at home actually spend MORE time working than those with an out-of-the-home job, because they don't have set office hours.

I know that I personally spend about 10 hours a day working, sometimes more, depending on what all I have to do. The work is there and I want the work, because I want the money, so I take on all the jobs that I can handle, to ensure that I'll have something to fall back on at all times, in the event that one or more of the gigs falls through.

If you're dedicated, committed, and self-motivated, working at home can be a great option for you. However, if you're lazy or looking for the easy way out, stay at the office. With a traditional job, you can accomplish nothing all day, and as long as you clocked in, you'll still get paid. A medical billing work at home job will only pay you if you actually accomplish something. Thus, you must be working, and often working hard, all the time in order to get paid.

I used to work in retail, in the local mall. In a small city, the mall isn't always the most popular place. Thus, I spent quite a few of my 44 hours a week standing around, looking at CD's (I worked in an entertainment store) and DVD's, and getting paid just for being there. I used to hate those slow days, but now I long for the day that I can get paid just for showing up. Instead, I work all day, and only get paid for what I accomplish and send in. My employers don't pay me just for being at home, they have to see results first.

You need to keep these things in mind when looking for your perfect work from home job. If you still want a medical billing work at home job after reading this, good for you. Good luck, and happy job hunting!
