Everybody wants to make lots of money. They also want to have a flexible job, or even work from home. Who wouldn't, after all? If you could sit in your office at home and get paid for working 8 to 10 hours each day, or less, why not?
Well... working at home isn't for everyone. We've discussed many times in these posts how you have to have the right character traits, and posses the desire to thrive and succeed without constant supervision. It sounds simple, but once you're sitting there, in your home, thinking about the laundry, dinner, and that great morning talk show you could be watching, working from home could be trickier than you thought.
If you've taken the time to research all of your options, and decided this is the right position for you, there are many directions you could take at this point. One of those is to find a work from home MLM business opportunity. What's that, you ask?
A work from home MLM business opportunity is a type of position that you can obtain where you are basically a recruiter. Someone will contact you and tell you about their "great company," and offer to "hire" you to hire other people.
But wait, I'm a salesperson, not a recruiter. I thought I'd be selling their product.
Exactly.
These companies want you to think that you'll be selling their product-- that you'll be the next hot salesperson for their team. All these MLM companies boast this "amazing product" that they offer, but you never actually see hard proof of this product or its capabilities. Instead, you are suckered into signing up to sell their "great product" and all you do is recruit more people to sell it. Only they won't sell anything, either. They'll recruit more people, just the way you did. The only thing you'll actually sell is the training package, which usually costs between $20 and $100, depending on the company.
Sounds shady, huh? It's not a scam, really, and it's completely legal. It's just a pain in the butt because you pay for their training material, and then spend your days selling the sales job to other unsuspecting people. You make money by signing people up, and when they sign people up. This is where the "MLM" comes in-- multi-level marketing. These opportunities are sometimes known as "pyramid schemes"... I'm sure you can see why.
You sell to Joe, Joe sells to Steve and Mary, and you make money off of all three of them, including a cut of the sales that Steve and Mary make. A work from home MLM business opportunity isn't a BAD opportunity, it's just a wolf in sheep's clothing, and you should be informed before you get in over your head.
