Ok, seriously, I can't give you step-by-step instructions on how to become a work at home travel agent. I'd like to, but it's not that simple. Everyone takes a different road, each journey is completely unlike the next one. I can provide you with general guidelines; that isn't a problem.
Tip #1: Make sure you're trained or prepared to train in the industry. You might even be required to train on-site, so be prepared for this. If you're already trained, make sure you highlight your best experiences on your resume.
Tip #2: Be passionate. In order to be successful at a career, you MUST be passionate about it. Especially if you're going to work at home, because you'll spend a lot of days alone in your office, talking on the phone (if you're lucky) and answering e-mails.
Tip #3: Be motivated, dedicated, and driven. If you can't make yourself work everyday, work at home travel agent positions might not be your best choice. If you're not committed to your position, you're likely to slack. And if you're not driven you will most likely fail in your endeavor. Get my point?
Tip #4: (Tip 2, restated. It really is that important)You have to want it so bad that you can taste it. And don't just do it for the money. Misery lies in the souls of those who work for the money. Work because you like your job, or even better, because you LOVE your job.
Being a work at home travel agent isn't all fun and games. Working at home takes twice the effort of an out-of-home job. This is because there's no boss breathing down your neck, no scheduled time to be at the office. You have to be your own boss and make your own schedule. If you really want it, don't give up. It's worth it all in the end.
