How can a stay at home mom work from home?
I think the better question would be: How can't she?
Thousands of positions are advertised with hundreds of companies for endless types of jobs that can be done from home. We're not talking about your old school "stuff envelopes and make money" or "make big bucks assembling items from home" kind of working from home.
This is new school. Many companies are turning to contracting employees and allowing them to work from home to save money and cut operating costs. Imagine this scenario: a corporation has 300 employees. Each one has a cubicle or office, which includes a desk, a computer, a chair, filing cabinets, pens, paper, and so on. Let's say that this costs the employer about $50 a day PER EMPLOYEE. Now if that employer decides to let five people work from home, they don't have to spend the money on maintaining their office spaces. That could save the company $250 a day in operating costs. That's almost $100,000 a year!
And all that just for letting people work from home. That example is a little extreme, but I think I made my point. A stay at home mom who wants to work from home can find these positions just about anywhere. You should always feel free to discuss your needs with a company and suggest a home-based position, even if it isn't advertised as such. You aren't limited to positions that advertise as telecommuting positions, and you shouldn't allow yourself to be restricted to this. Any job that you are qualified for should be worth your time to inquire about whether or not you can do the job from home.
So can a stay at home mom work from home? Yes. And how can a stay at home mom work from home? Just about any way she wants.
