Why Work from Home?
Some people don’t seem to think that work form home is really work. Why? Because, it can be so much less stressful that at times working from home actually can seem more like fun than like work. It is less stressful in large part because you don’t have anyone looking over your shoulder while you try to work. There is less interruption than occurs on the floor of a regular office work place. Thus, making it easier to stay on task and really get something accomplished.
In addition to the reduced stress which frequently accompanies working from home, there are tax advantages. When you work from home you may use that portion of your house used to conduct business as a tax write off come the end of the year. Just try writing off part of your work space in an office where you are employed and see what the IRS has to say about that.
Not only do you reduce stress and gain some tax advantages when you telecommute via computer with your office, just think of the time saved in getting to and from work. Time for which you are not compensated. If you have even a half an hour commute each way to work that means you can still put in a full days work by telecommuting and still have an extra hour to do something you enjoy doing or accomplishing something that needs to be done around the house. Then think how much time you’ll save if you’re spending more like an hour a day each way in your commute. Suddenly you would have ten extra hours a week at your disposal. Now what could you do with that? A lot I am sure.
Add to the time saved by telecommuting verses regular commuting the amount of money you spend on transportation. If you are driving that far every day you could easily be saving $100. or more on fuel over the period of a month at today’s prices. There is also the savings on the wear and tear on your vehicle making it last maybe even several years longer. If you take public transportation you may not save as much money as the daily driver, but, it will still be a significant savings.
Or if the above mentioned is not enough reason to look into the possibility of telecommuting to your job, think about your children if you have any. Wouldn’t they love to spend more time with mom or dad or both? I’m sure the answer is yes. With the children you could also be looking at a reduction in day care or expense for after school programs.
All in all it is very worthwhile to look into working from home whether telecommuting or even starting your own business.
