With today’s gasoline prices it might not seem like a terrific time to start operation of a work from home driving service. However, there is a call for such a service in most metropolitan areas and some more suburban areas. This need is especially keen among the elderly who are attempting to maintain a life style that does not land them in a rest home.
Working with a select few elderly people you can earn a reasonable supplemental income by operating a work from home driving service. Many of these elderly people no longer have driver’s licenses and as such require such services as being driven to:

· Taking pets to the veterinarian
· Grocery shopping
· Hair Appointments
· Clubs
· Lunch or dinner outings with their friends
· To pay a cordial visit to friends or visit them in the hospital.

At the same time you can work out schedules that work for both you and one or more clients. Such a service will require some definite planning in advance to meet the schedule(s) of one or more clients.
A typical week for one of my friends who provides such a work from home driving service to an elderly 83 year old neighbor goes something along this way.
- Monday, morning she has a hair appointment that lasts about an hour and a half.
- Tuesday, the first Tuesday of the month she attends a club where she and her friends enjoy a luncheon and good conversation. The remaining three or four Tuesdays of the month these same friends get together and practice dance for performances.
- Wednesday, the first Wednesday of the month is grocery shopping day. It is the day that a local supermarket chain provides a 10% senior citizen discount. Even on non discount Wednesdays the client needs at least a limited amount of items form the store.
- Thursday is often set aside for medical appointments or to just go out and visit another friend in a similar situation and enjoy each others company for several hours before being picked up once again.
- This lady also takes frequent trips out of town and the work from home driving service takes her to and picks her up from the airport as well.
As you can see providing a driving service for just one lady can involve quite a bit of time. However, the compensation the driver gets is substantial and of course would vary from client to client depending on the number of chores that person has. One thing about a work from home driving service is that you are not just providing the service and earning extra income, but, you are establishing friendships along the way. Of course running a work from home driving service, like any other business, you must set parameters allowing you time for yourself so that you are not just rushing around at the whim of your clients. They need to understand that you have a certain amount of time set aside for them and that you need your other time for either other clients or your own
