Food catering as legitimate work from home

Many catering services operate as legitimate work from home enterprises. Unlike some work from home jobs, a catering business must be licensed and is subject to inspections by the local health department. The same standards would apply if the service were run out of a restaurant or hotel.

One of the great things about operating a legitimate work from home catering business is how much it can cut down on overhead, thus, making it easier to turn a profit. It also allows you to write off a portion of your house as a business when it comes tax time. It also allows for equipment to be depreciated so long as the majority of its use is for the catering business itself.

Some other legitimate work from home businesses are:

  • Landscaping and general yard upkeep
  • Pool maintenance and repair
  • Herbalife or other similar distributorships
  • Avon or Mary Kaye or other similar entities whether dealing with cosmetics or other things such as Tupperware..
  • Licensed day care for children
  • Tutoring of students from high school through university levels and even professionals.
  • Music, dance, yoga or even swimming lessons.

The options for legitimate work from home entities are almost endless if you just take the time to sit down and evaluate them.
