Heaven knows why, but, there are people out there who will literally invest thousands of dollars and who knows how many man hours to launch a work from home business without ever doing research to see what they are up against. A surprising number couldn’t tell you whether the internet search engines list one thousand or fifty million entities offering the same service(s) that they are. Some may not have even consulted a local phone book.
What information should a work from home business be aware of in order to be successful? The following is simply a short list of some of the most basic information that should be taken into consideration before investing outlandish amounts of money and time in any business. Obviously someone starting up an Avon business will not need the same amount of information as someone working with catering or landscaping.
- What competition if any already exists in their immediate locale.
- What license(s) are needed for this particular class of business: city, county, state.
- What insurance requirements might be.
- What reasonable start up and operating costs are for the particular enterprise.
- How much working capital if any will be needed to keep the business afloat in the time required to gain name recognition.
- How long it takes the typical startup company take to become profitable.
- What type of advertising will be most effective for them.
The above is certainly not an all inclusive list of information needed by a work from home business; however, it does provide a good start.
