How to deal with poor click through rates

A poor click-through rate might be the result of several factors such as:
  • low traffic
  • website doesn’t look trustworthy
  • affiliate services/products are not related to the needs of your visitors
  • affiliate ads are not getting enough exposition
While we already covered how to increase traffic through search engine optimization and pay-per-click advertising, a site redesign should take care of the trust issue.

If the programs you’re promoting don’t appeal to your visitors (let’s say you’re trying to sell BBQ sauces on a veggie website), find other programs to promote – with employment services like ours, you’re in luck though since it’s a market with a general appeal.

Finally, if affiliate links aren’t getting enough exposition because they’re hidden at the bottom of a page, or buried in the middle of hundreds links on a link exchange page, move them to a more prominent page such as the home page and see if it increases the # of clicks.
